How to Use Twitter to Get Discovered

Social media users know Twitter as a platform to quickly and succinctly share thoughts and ideas with people throughout the world. But sometimes, 140 characters is just not enough to tell the full story of who you are or what you’re thinking. As Tony Conrad likes to say, “You are more than the sum of your tweets.”

That’s where about.me comes in. When you add your about.me page link to your Twitter bio, you’re giving yourself the opportunity to tell you story more fully, and on your terms.

The Life of a Singer and Music Blogger: Ilaria Mangiardi

First came the makeup artists and hair stylists, then the sparkly costumes, and finally, the cue to step onto the stage. Standing in front of thousands of people, her nerves a mess, Ilaria Mangiardi did what she loves most, she sang. Her nervousness melted away and by the time the song was over, she could have stayed on the Eurovision stage for hours.

Though she wasn’t the main performer at the Swiss finals of the Eurovision song contest (she sang backup vocals for Scilla) the opportunity was still one of the highlights of Ilaria’s life as a singer and music lover and she remembers the experience fondly. “I don’t care if it’s 10 or 10,000 people, I just sing and I feel good,” she says.

Keeping in Touch through Intro

In last week’s tips post, we talked about sending an Intro and just how easy it is to do. It’s so easy we’re betting you’ll be able to send one even faster than you can find and hand out your physical business cards.

But now that you’ve sent an Intro, what do you do next? Well, with the contact information of your new acquaintance saved in the app, you’ll want to take some action to keep in touch, learn more about your new friend, and avoid suffering from “business card amnesia“. To see that information, just open the menu and choose the “My Shares” section. There you’ll see all the people to whom you’ve sent Intros, along with the dates you sent them and the city from where they were sent.

The Ease of Sending An Intro

In the past we’ve given you tips on writing your bio for Intro, adding a photo to your page for Intro, and controlling what you share with Intro. In general, we’ve prepped you for sending an impressive Intro. But have you actually sent one yet?

If not, you probably met someone new over the holidays or will be meeting new people very soon with the hustle and bustle of the new year, so now is a great time to start sending Intros. Plus, it’s simple to do and takes only a few seconds. Here’s how it’s done.

4 Reasons Why Your Face Should Be On Your about.me Page

In many of our previous tips posts, we’ve talked about why you should have a picture of yourself as the Background Photo of your about.me page. Now, with Intro app, there’s a brand new reason to have your face on your page. But first, here’s a brief refresher of the top 3 reasons we’ve cited in the past.

1) A picture on your page allows you to put your best foot forward and show the world who you are both personally and professionally.

2) People are more likely to click on your page if they see a picture of a person (as opposed to a landscape shot) while browsing about.me.

3) Your page looks its best and is more likely to be Featured or chosen for Staff Picks or Follow Friday (#FFaboutme).

2 Things You Didn’t Know About Intro

It’s been almost two months since we released Intro for iOS, and are excitedly working on a version for Android. Yet there are still a couple of things you might not know about our digital business card app.

1) You don’t need an about.me page to download Intro

If you already have a page when you download the app, that’s great just click the blue “Log In with about.me” button to sign in and start sending intros. But if you or a friend forget your business cards, never fear; you can still download the app and start sending intros in minutes. Just click the “Sign Up with Facebook” button and you’ll instantly have a page created from your Facebook profile. And that’s it, you’re ready to start sending intros!
