Meet Ankit: The Creative Techie Who Aspires to Inspire

Ankit Curchorcar never does the same thing twice. A classic extrovert, this 21-year-old thinks inside the box, because everyone is thinking out of it.

Currently studying Computational Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, he is inspired and motivated by the people around him to create something that will change lives and better our world.

After being inspired by his infectious energy and awesome bio, we decided to ask him a few questions to learn about what drives him.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born in Goa, India and moved with my parents to Muscat, Oman when I was in elementary school. Since there was no scope for post secondary education in the country, we moved to Canada to finish up my high school.

I currently attend the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I am studying in the field of Computational Mathematics, and am still trying to figure out which year of my program I am in. I hope to graduate within the next decade, so I know I’m on track for that at least.

Four words that describe you.

Friendly, Imaginative, Leader, WittyAnkit

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

I used to be very scared of public speaking. If you asked me why, I would tell you that it was because of stage fright. The overwhelming silence or even the blazing temperatures when you’re up on the stage. It was all in my mind. Nevertheless, I was at least able to curb my tendencies of panicking on stage and talking to people. Since middle school, I’ve taken part in many competitions and events that included debates, speeches, quiz shows and even Model U.N. conferences.

In 2009, I was selected amongst 7 other students to represent my school at the First National Muscat Youth Summit in Oman. Since then, I have never looked back and I talk to folks every chance I get. My ultimate goal would be to give a speech at TEDx or TED Talks.

How about your biggest failure or lesson learned?
