Many artists choose to use their about.me pages to display their art. This week, however we’d like to take a closer look specifically at children’s book illustrators. While their interests are diverse and extend far beyond illustration, all of them here used their works as a strong basis for great pages.
Among this group of artists we have imagination worker, Elissambura, of Argentina who illustrated this post header. Illustrator Bri Mercedes most enjoys drawing nature and fantasy creatures as you can see in her work of art below.

This week on our world tour we’re heading south, way south, to Chile. A very narrow country, its length nearly matches the width of the United States and is naturally full of different climates. They range from the driest dessert in the world, in the north, to one of the planet’s wettest regions, in the south.
The country also happens to be home to many wonderful about.me community members including our post header, Nicolas Copano, executive producer of MQLTV.com a Spanish-language television channel made for Youtube. We also have piano teacher, Michelle O’Ryan Gálvez and journalist Alejandro San Martín.

This past week we made a nice change to our collections, you can now arrange the people in your collections into any order you want, simply drag and drop. Now Shawn can reorder his Artists collection (in our header) to show his favorite works of art or artists at the top of his collection.
In honor of this change we’ve decided to showcase some of our team’s favorite collections. They range from All Time Faves by Tony Conrad to Pascal’s collection of Storm Troopers. We hope you enjoy perusing them all below and get some inspiration to create your own collections of favorites on about.me
Not sure how to add people to your collections? Just click the “+” button on their page, in search, under their picture in your feed or hovering over their picture in other collections!

Today we’re shedding some light on people we hear all the time but almost never see, voice actors and actresses! Not only do we get to see them here but also learn about their personalities and what they do when they’re not lending their voices to our favorite characters.

These days pets are very well beloved and often considered a part of the family. We even have pets as members of the about.me community, thanks to their owners creating a page for them! So now lets meet some veterinarians who take care of our pets when they’re most in need, ensuring they are there to greet us when we come home everyday.
Dr. Corey Hill (our header photo) has always had a great passion for animals and now that she’s a veterinarian she loves helping their owners too. Her inspiration is her dog Bear (above) who gets around in his wheel chair since losing use of his back legs.

The reduction in global polio cases is a great success, but polio infection remains at endemic levels in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria. African nations of Kenya and Somalia are home to a resurgence of the disease, pockets of infection can be found where vaccination is overlooked or inaccessible. Sid warns:
“We are at the last mile of getting rid of this deadly and crippling disease. Between Bill Gates, the US Government joined by others are making a huge difference. What is missing is advocacy and encouraging all governments and partners to come together around this common goal.”
Sid believes that by eradicating polio we are setting the stage for
eradicating other diseases and public health concerns. The overall success fighting polio is an example of how global awareness and aid make a massive impact on public health. Yet more work must be done to finish off the deadly disease.
“Collectively we can encourage positive change and impact global commons such as public health, critical for healthy nations and healthy children all over the world” Sid said in a message to about.me. Polio is preventable with vaccination, every single case is one too many.
The images atop this post shows the oral vaccine being administered in Kano, Nigeria. A single dose protects half of all recipients, and 3 doses ensures immunity in 95% of people (source).
