Traveling with about.me: Ghana

This Thursday we’re again choosing to travel to one of the countries competing in the World Cup today, Ghana. Known by their nickname of the Black Stars, Ghana’s national football team has represented the country since 1950. Located in West Africa, along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, Ghana is also geographically closer to the center of the earth than any other country in the world.

Check out all the pages below but before you do, don’t forget to have a look at green evangelist Kwesi Acquah (our post header), and the awesome environmental blog he writes and highlights on his page. Then if you’re in need of some job hunting help, see Edem Adzaho‘s page as she has trained and mentored over 5,000 graduates and young professionals from all over Ghana.

To the land of .ME, Montenegro

Yesterday, our co-founder Tony Conrad was in Montenegro, pleased to be participating again in the annual Spark.Me conference. Tony expressed how thrilling it was to be in the land of .ME since this is where the about.me domain originates. Montenegro, shortly after independence in 2006, applied to be assigned the Top Level Domain, .ME and was granted it in 2007 so they could then open it up for anyone in the world to obtain a .ME domain.*

Located in the southern part of the Adriatic Sea, this fairly new and rather small country (population, 600,000) boasts a great number of about.me community members with awesome pages. In honor of Tony’s recent trip there, we wanted to feature some of them. Take for example, Sanja Lazovic, (our header image) whose awesome picture shows off both her and her workplace, the .ME registry. Through their pictures, apps and links on their about.me pages we invite you to learn more about each person below and the country of Montenegro.

This week we’re taking a trip to see the famous coast of the world’s 18th most popular tourist destination, Croatia. We loved Jadranka Lacković‘s page which shows off her individually crafted works of art and jewelry displayed prominently in her page’s pictures. Divided by the South China sea into two regions, Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia, the country is considered to be one of 17 megadiverse countries in the world due to its large numbers of endemic plant and animal species.

In our header we have the stunning photograph of Zatashah Idris whose page highlights her entrepreneurship and passion for style and travel. Just below is filmmaker James Lee whose film reel, embedded directly in his page, enthralled us.
