The votes are in – our contest to find new faces for about.me is officially over! We wanted to send a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you who participated, and to everyone who supported their friends by voting day after day. We have seen some amazing profiles and are extremely impressed by our community’s creativity.

Curious to know who is going to be featured on our billboard in Times Square? We are too! The team is currently going through the top profiles, contacting finalists, and will announce the winners next week. Stay tuned!

  1. I concur with Butch Ewing just happy to be apart of the community! Love what Aboutdotme has created and has really taken off since AOL decided to power the original concept. I had a lot of voting support just as much as others. What a brilliant marketing idea to launch the contest in the first place and notice a huge surge in new accounts as a direct international marketing result!

  2. when about.me gets really big we can look back and say we were one of its first members. This is the greatest idea for social connecting since facebook.

  3. I have to say that this really was a GREAT exercise in how to use social media. Having an About.Me profile has been great but I have to say the real value of having one is more crystal clear to me now then it was before. With the way the world is starting to communicate and discover each other, this platform has done wonders for me!! On behalf of me and a chick with a beard (that looks like me) named Bethesda Jackson…You guys get a special β€œhair flip!!!” (Can you hear the Charlies Angels theme yet?? LOL!) πŸ˜‰ B.

  4. Seriously.. These days if any website asks me to type a 500 character BIO for a profile… I mention my about.me profile… Helps me effectively manage site time spent πŸ™‚
Well!! good to have hopes.. Getting featured in Times Square sitting out of Chennai, India πŸ™‚ That would be a Giant Virtual Leap for a mankind…. πŸ™‚

  5. Had around 1000 votes not sure what everyone else had but that was enough support to show me how special my friends and family were.

    Wonderful contest. Thanks guys

  6. Once again thank you for the opportunity, I pray I get pick for this event. I have been struggling extremely hard to get where I want to be in life. It would be an honor to advance to a more professional level.

We definitely had more entrants than allowed for 20 in the top 5%. πŸ™‚

  8. I can’t wait to see the results…I was in the top 5% as well, but not sure if I had enough to be in the top 20. If we didn’t make the top 20 maybe some of us can get on the featured people page? πŸ™‚

This site truly is an amazing concept, instead of constantly having to fill
out a zillion “about me” sections on various websites and having to keep them consistent – I just insert this link. I can’t wait to see what is in store in the future!

  9. Aww I’m sad to hear top 5% might not mean anything! But thats awesome so many people got so many votes.

  10. It was a fun contest! I still have my fingers crossed and my overnight bag packed in enthusiastic optimism! These folks with over 1000 votes? No match for Godzilla in a purple feather boa! πŸ™‚

Can’t wait to hear who won – I enjoyed looking through all the great profiles here. Most are so eye-catching and creative!

  11. It was a fun contest. I think I ended up with about 650 votes… man, just getting people to vote was like pulling teeth. It was a lot of fun though. About.me is pretty darn cool.

  12. I was also in the top 5%. It was a great contest and there are a lot of amazing profiles out there πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to see who wins! Hopefully there will be a feature of the profiles with the most votes. Good luck to all!

  13. Great way to use social media for good.I love my about.me hub page as it gives anyone looking to find out who I am and what I’m about all the links they need and ways to connect. I link it everywhere. It’s fun to scroll through random pages and see how everyone designs theirs. I’m planting trees for each click during September in honor of my birthday and obvious passion for trees (plus a dedication to the passing of Wangari Maathai).

I don’t say this to boast … I say this to compliment the winners … because I received 2,500 votes and wasn’t contacted. The winners must have busted their rears! Good work guys! The contest was a blast regardless. Got to find out who real friends were!

  15. Have they contacted all the winners? Have not seen any new postings. I was in the top 5% (over 1500 votes). It was fun. :0) Vote for me in the Shorty Awards next year! :oP

  16. yeah..i was in top 5% too..i guess that might not be high enough….I don’t think I had anywhere near 1000 votes. Was a fun contest though..thanks much!

  17. I’m anxious to see who one, too! Although I was in the top 5%, but I had less than 200 votes – did everyone get the 5% message?

  18. lauraglu

Nope! But we had a lot of entrants! And a lot entered without promoting their pages.
