Whether it’s your favorite lolcat or your twitter handle, hyperlinking text within your biography will allow readers to interact with your text and of course, learn more all about you.
Hyperwhat?
A hyperlink is highlighted text that directs you to another URL when you click it. It allows you to place a URL within the text to save space. In the paragraph above, “Lolcat” and “your twitter handle” are examples of text that are hyperlinked.
Make it colorful
With your about.me page you can also edit the color of your links. Go to ‘Edit Your Page,’ and click on the ‘Colors’ tab. From there click the space that the arrow points to in order to edit the colors of your links.
Examples!
Below are some great examples of about.me pages that do a great job of hyperlinking text to make their bio more interactive. Here, Ryan hyperlinks ‘work,’ ‘eat,’ and ‘play.’

why linking in bio consumes so many characters? 2500 chars are enough for bio, but not for formatting, if every link consumes for about 50 or 100 characters. it’s a shame…
Though 2500 characters are allowed, we strongly recommend 1-2 paragraph bios like those above.
Visitors are more likely to read them, and then can click through to a blog or elsewhere for more!
